Dice Flash Cards

Hello, parents! Just taking these few minutes to post a link for some dice flash cards to print at home and use. It may seem weird to have your kids practice with dice, but kindergarteners need to start recognizing number patterns by shape-- that is to say, they need to know that 3 dots and 2 dots will always be 5 dots, for example. Please encourage them NOT TO COUNT the dots, but notice their pattern. I will print out a few pages to send home, but as there are lots of pages, I will not send them all. Enjoy praciting these with your little one! http://www.worksheetworks.com/math/numbers/counting-dice-flashcards.html

Superbowl Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE check out the January tab to see our awesome Seahawks-filled week! I have had the BEST week teaching using the Hawks as an inspiration.  The kids have loved it and we feel like such a community.  Also, as January wraps up, we have done some testing and will continue throughout February.  I am SO PROUD of all they have accomplish so far!!!!! We have made amazing progress in academics and behavior.  Keep doing what you are doing, parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long time no post!

Hello, all!

GEEZE, it has been busy in Kindergarten.  Although I've been taking photos and video like mad, I just haven't been able to upload successfully! Additionally, lots of the photos I have been taking have been group photos, so there's no point to posting those and blanking out all of the kids' faces.  Don't worry-- you'll see them at the end of the year! :) Check out photos in November & December!

Over all, we are really coming along academically.  To be ready for January:

*Practice "CVC" words (you can google it; they are words with three sounds-- consonant-vowel-consonant)
*Practice teen numbers (recognizing, writing, saying) 11-20.
*Begin addition! Play with two dice and have the kids add up the dots.

Finally, we are still working hard on behavior! Continue the wonderful conversations you are having at home with them about tattling vs. telling when it's important, being kind, and not lying.  These are three of the biggest issues we are facing in K :) I can tell parents are talking with their kids about these things because they often come to school and tell me about it! AWESOME!

Happy Christmas to all!

Love,
